How do you measure for a table runner?

Your dining room table’s dimensions and shape determine the runner’s size and shape that will look best, so measuring before buying unique table runners is advisable.

To show off a grand centerpiece, choose a runner that is one-third of the table’s length and place it in the center.

To measure for a full-length table runner, take your table’s width and divide it by three. This number is the ideal width of your runner. The runner’s length is up to you; however, the recommended measurement is a 6” overhang on each side of the table. If you’re using a tablecloth, make sure your table runner hangs off at an equal or slightly shorter length.
