Bar stools can be placed at the breakfast bar, at your kitchen island or anywhere else in your home. You don't necessarily need a breakfast bar in order to have bar stools, although they are designed to accommodate the height and shape of the stools. Shaker style furniture is purposely created without a huge amount of detail, with the shape and overall design providing enough visual interest to satisfy most homeowners. Before buying shaker style bar stools, here are some of the factors which need consideration.
Although the shaker style has its own features, there are still varying styles which come under this umbrella category. Let's look at some of the main ones:
- Backless bar stools: A feature which you will need to think about when you're shopping, the inclusion of backs on your bar stools can make them more comfortable and enticing. If you experience problems when sitting on certain types of furniture, or you have back or neck problems, backless bar stools aren't always the best choice.
- Slightly curved back: Somewhere between a full back and no back at all sits the slightly curved back bar stools. This provides a small amount of support to the lower back, while maintaining a simpler look.
- Curved seat: Another popular design is the curved seat style. This version of shaker bar stools is comfortable and stylish. Although the seat is wooden, the curvature means that it's not quite as hard and uncomfortable as it might be without this curve. You can also add cushions or other fabric accessories to enhance comfort levels.
While most bar stools are made from wood, there are other materials which can be used, either as a main material or a secondary one, such as:
