Designer Advice:

Although the neutral colors of this bed frame make it easy to decorate with a variety of colors, we think that it would look exceptionally stunning in a dark-themed bedroom. Perhaps you can paint an accent wall in a cool tone like midnight blue or dark gray, or swap your bedding for something darker.

Low profile king bed in a mid century modern style

This solid oak and rubberwood frame is bound to complement interiors inspired by the trends from the 50s and 60s. Designer Advice:

While it’s not the most comfortable headboard, you could easily prop up some cushions whenever you want to sit up in bed reading or watching TV.

What We Like: Two-tone appearance

Not So Good For: People with knee and lower back problems

Available in gray wash or chestnut brown, this low-profile king bed channels a modern-meets-industrial aesthetic that is both stylish and timeless. Upholstered Low Profile King Bed Frame with Headboard

Upholstered Low Profile King Bed Frame with Headboard

Greyleigh™

Perfect For: Classic and contemporary interior styles

What We Like: Feminine design

What We Don’t Like: Lightweight

Classy and charming, this king-size bed surely makes a grand centerpiece in the bedroom. It is made from a blend of solid and manufactured wood and then padded with foam for upgraded comfort. Adding to that, a soft-to-touch linen fabric in warm gray, light gray, or blue envelopes the entire piece. The highlight of this bed, though, is the wingback headboard, which has been beautifully embellished with button tufting and nailhead trim.

Designer Advice:

This beauty proves that not all low-profile beds have to look modern and minimalist. Conversely, it has more of a traditional feel to it that fits right in with classic furnishings, such as a crystal chandelier, long drapes, and a French end-of-bed bench. On another note, it gives luxury hotel vibes when paired with contemporary decors, like a geometric rug or bedside pendant lights.

What Users Say:

Beautiful and well made. Adds a touch of elegance to our bedroom!

Including a handy slat kit, this low profile king bed frame will steal your heart with its distressed light wooden finish and decorative legs.

This aged look is particularly ideal in shabby chic bedrooms, but your cushions and bedsheets are what can really bring this feminine style to life.

Low Profile King Bed Frames

Buying Guide

Yes, low-profile beds are comfortable to sleep on, but they aren’t for everyone. Taller people may find it quite annoying to get into a squat position each time they get in and out of their bed. But, if you don’t mind doing a mini workout each time you wake up and go to bed, a low-profile king bed won’t do you wrong.

Low bed frames typically feature slats at the bottom, so your mattress won’t budge, bounce, or creak at all. Also, these bed slats can provide adequate support to your mattress which promotes more comfort and relaxation. That said, the thickness and quality of your mattress will also determine how comfortably you sleep.

A low profile king bed is ideal for anyone seeking a Japanese-style aesthetic for their room, without the look of a platform bed. Low profile bed frames typically sit 4” to 6” off the floor, which is significantly lower than a typical style bed. Traditional beds with a box spring are usually around 25” high.

While it’s recommended to choose a bed frame height around knee level, which is usually 16” to 25” for adults, some people prefer low profile beds for the ease of getting in and out at a lower level. The significantly shorter low profile bed frame is also a great choice if you live in an apartment with low ceilings.

Night tables the same height as your low-profile king bed makes the most comfortable pairing. Low profile king beds are between 18-22” off the ground, and a suitable night table should be about 16-18” tall.

However, you still need to consider if you’ll need a table to hold a few items or extra storage. Low profile nightstands and simple tables are furniture pieces with a lamp, a clock, a few accessories, and a photo frame. Sometimes, nightstands are designed with a single drawer for more effortless organization. Bedside cabinets are small chests of drawers to provide extra storage. The shorter the nightstand, the less storage space it offers.
