What we like: Single side-mounted metal leg

Not great for: Giving both players access to the storage drawer

This minimalistic chess table has a thick wood frame with a built-in drawer and a light natural wood finish contrasted by the dark black squares. The C-shaped metal base has a single side L shaped frame for an updated aesthetic.

Designer Advice

While the game of chess may be an old game, there are plenty of ways to bring it current for a modern look. Instead of a wood base with four legs or a single middle pedestal stem to support the tabletop, you can get a fantastic updated style with a base of metal instead, mounted to one side.
