Since slate top end tables tend to have a strong and statement-making design, your living room can easily look unbalanced if your sofa color doesn’t harmonize with your classy end table. To make sure these living room staples complement each other, pick an accent color from the slate top and make it the main color of your sofa.
For instance, if the slates are in brown, blue, and green, you’ll have 3 sofa color options to choose from. Whatever color you decide to go with, you can stick to the same shade or opt for a slightly lighter or darker shade. Examples of common colors that match with slate top end tables are dark brown, beige, navy blue, olive green, and ginger.
Like other end tables, slate top end tables should be slightly lower than the couch’s arm to make them optimal for setting things down. It’s okay if the end table is somewhat higher, but any more than 2” above the couch’s arm will be uncomfortable to use. End tables that are too high may cause the user to bump their hand on the side of the table when they reach to set things on it.
This means that most end tables are between 20”- 24” high. However, small end tables around 18” are a better choice for couches with shallow arms. Tall end tables of up to 28” may be the best option for sofas with large, plush arms.
