Education
Born in New York and fascinated with all things art since her early childhood, Vanessa knew there were actually few logical choices as far as her higher education was concerned. She chose the New York School of Interior Design, where she obtained rigorous training necessary to prepare her for a career she had always dreamed of.
Upon receiving her BFA degree, Vanessa was a well-rounded professional, but she decided to keep on learning and completed a one-year Master of Professional Studies in Lighting Design program. As an amateur photographer, she has always been amazed by how artificial and natural light can transform the environment and affect people’s moods. So this faculty seemed like a perfect choice … and turned out to be a perfect springboard for her dream career.

Experience
Vanessa’s formal education in architectural lighting and interior design gave her a profound understanding of how to work with light as a medium, backed with lots of hands-on experience gained in the university’s professional lab.
As a design intern at HLW International, she was responsible for supporting the team in various aspects of the project, from concept development to implementation. This, together with a strong university background, gave her the courage to spread her wings.
Apart from her design work, Vanessa enjoys blogging about home lighting solutions, antique lamps, and outdoor illuminations. She is a frequent contributor to interior design magazines, too.
