Tree View House, formerly a modest bungalow at the end of a cul-de-sac, underwent a remarkable transformation by Neil Dusheiko Architects. Influenced by the family's experiences in Delhi and California, the thoughtful interventions have turned the home into a flexible space that seamlessly merges with its rich landscape.

Designed as a grounding space, the home resembles a yoga mat, providing relief from the unpredictability of the outside world. The focus is on connecting occupants with nature, emphasizing the sun's rhythms, seasonal changes, and the textures of natural materials. Surrounded by greenery and with extended views toward parkland, the home integrates with its surroundings.

The three-bay subdivision organizes the spaces, balancing restful and active areas. The ground floor's careful planning eases the transition from street to garden, with an entry flanked by an office and formal sitting room. The hallway, serving as a negative space, separates the kitchen from the dining room and snug, featuring terracotta floors and Lebanese cedar walls.

Materials like black poured concrete, polished lava stone, and brick pamment cladding contribute to a strong materiality. The ground floor maximizes natural light, with a fully glazed garden-facing facade and strategic openings. A collaboration with landscape designer Jane Brockbank enhances the outdoor space, incorporating a planted swale and timber boardwalks.
Harmony between indoor and outdoor spaces is achieved through a large planter containing dual-suited plants and shared materials like polished concrete flooring and hardwood cladding. The first floor hosts a master bedroom lined with Brazilian Walnut, secret bathrooms, and spaces for children. The uppermost floor, characterized by bamboo and tatami mats, offers a serene atmosphere with a meditation shrine, gym, and library.
