Chaise lounge furniture is available in a variety of frame materials like hardwood, softwood, wicker, resin, aluminum, recycled plastic and steel. Your choice should depend on whether you intend to place the chaise chair outdoors, the aesthetics that you seek, the comfort and durability, and last but not the least, the value for money.

• Softwood is inexpensive. But doesn’t cut the mustard when it comes to everyday use in a busy household.
• Solid hardwood, like oak, is a great choice for both outdoor and indoor use. But it’s heavy on maintenance (sealing and revarnishing) and costs a pretty penny.
• Wicker is lightweight, reasonably priced and perfect for an indoor chaise. However, wicker chaise furniture rarely comes with an integrated storage system.
• Aluminum is lightweight, extremely durable and can be painted or finished to complement the rest of the décor.

Select a resilient and durable fabric material if the chaise will be used frequently. Look for a removable cover and consider various cushion fills depending on the comfort you seek.

The volume of the storage space will depend on the size of the chaise furniture. The average length of a chaise lounger is 80 inches and the width is approximately 30-inches. It can be more or less than this. But that’s a good ballpark number to go by.

Ensure that there’s enough room to accommodate the chaise. If the storage compartment will be filled to capacity, consider the weight of the furniture, especially if you plan to move it around the house. Chaise lounge chairs with casters are rare. But you can always get a customized one.

Look for storage compartments with hydraulic hinges as they are easier to access, even by elderly people.
